These bottoms are so comfortable and warm! I love the wide waistband, which makes sure the tops don't bunch up. My measurements indicated I should order a medium, but I ordered two pair in large to make sure they weren't too tight. I wish I would have ordered medium, because the large is pretty bagg... If you aren't as leggy as I am, you are going to love these. As it stands, I still like them and will keep them, since they are longer than most base bottoms. But they are still shy of what is needed for long legs, landing 3" above my ankles. Boy, I'd love to have a pair that fit like what's shown on the model. These are soft and warm -- great base, and decent look and weight for kicking around publicly.

These Smartwool NTS Midweight base layer bottoms are the best I have ever worn! They are extremely comfortable, lightweight and warm! I wore these with my insulated ski pants and was never cold while I was skiing. They are fantastic - I would definitely recommend this product!

Smartwool base layers are the perfect layering option. On colder days, I wear them under everything, including skirts! The finely woven merino wool feels great next to the skin and keeps me warm and dry. This particular style runs a tad small so I recommend ordering one size up.

Unbelievably comfy and warm; most especially through this brutal cold in the northeast! I actually layered them under my skirts and got plenty of compliments on how cute they were! I didn't rate them a 5 because they do get a wee bit of that "baggy knee" look after wearing them all day. Perhaps I should (or could ) have ordered a size smaller, but my legs are so long are tend to go larger!

These bottoms are comfy (not itchy) and are a flattering fit (for base layers). I ordered a large because I don't like them too tight on the waist, but I probably could have ordered a medium. They are not tight at all on me (I'm 5'4 155 lbs). I bought them at the end of season and I haven't had a chance to try them out in the extreme cold - so I can't speak for their warmth yet but I imagine they will do the job! Overall - very cute and worth the extra money.

  • Question “Is the elastic covered with fabric? Is the cuff elastic also?”
Asked on 11/23/2014 7:50:35 AM by Marian from Vermont
    • Answer Yes, the waistband is covered in fabric. The cuff has no elastic, it's just hemmed.
Answered on 11/23/2014 8:06:08 AM by Penny from Colorado
    • Answer The waistband is covered with fabric yes, it covers a 2" piece of elastic that is not binding and holds well. The ankle cuffs do not have elastic, just a flat hem. They are awesome and warm and I just skied in them yesterday and they were great.
Answered on 11/23/2014 8:19:49 AM by Hot Mustard from Ithaca
    • Answer Yes it is & very comfortable! There is no cuff, flat seamed so there will be no extra bunching in boots (adorable with knee boots) or ski boots.; Have worn both ways ~ fabulous.

    • Answer Yes the waistband elastic is covered in the stretch wool fabric. It's wide and comfortable. The ankle cuffs are not elastic, but the fabric is stretches perfectly. I I've these woollies.

    • Answer The waistband is fabric covered, and I'm not sure it has separate elastic in it--the fabric itself is stretchy. The cuffs are the same stretchy fabric as the body of the legging. They stay up very well, and I have one pair that's five years old and just starting to wear out.
Answered on 11/23/2014 8:28:47 AM by Sarah from Massachusetts
    • Answer Hi, the waistband is about 1 and 1/2 " thick and is covered with fabric (self fabric) and is very soft and comfortable and holds them up well. The ankle cuffs have a turned up hem of about 1/2" with no elastic but they stay in place very well. These are the best merino leggings I have tried, I own 4 pairs plus they are 250 wt (medium weight) and great for winter or as leggings in fall.

    • Answer Yes the elastic band around the waist is covered by the fabric. The cuff is moderately elastic, but nothing really noticable. Enough to keep them in place, but nothing near the waistband.

  • Question “What is the inseam length. I am 5' 8" tall and usually take a long in jeans or a 32" inseam.”
Asked on 9/17/2013 8:21:52 AM by Lil Lou from Deer Park
    • Answer The inseam is 31 inches.
Answered on 9/17/2013 9:54:13 AM by Prod. Spec. Kevin from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer In Large the inseam will cover 32". I'm 5' 51/2" and also need the 32" inseam. I usually go up sizes just to get the length. I am hoping that these will still be long enough after they are washed. First time wearing them today and they're very comfortable.
