First time I thought it was a fluke, second time realised it was real - the pants have rips and wear areas on them making them look tattered. I can't wear those to work though, and personally, I prefer to wear them out myself, not buy them already "broken". Unfortunately, the rips are not mentioned in the description of the pants, nor can they be seen in the images........
