It seems like primaloft (trade name) is at such a premium price wise so I found Marmot...(insulation supposed to be as good as primaloft) so far it is working out well...I like the extra mobility and the light weight alternative for sports and for general running around. If I was to sit still in my... Read More

Ordered the Caldera in M for a picky teenager who needed a light but warm jacket for back and forth for school and other outdoor activity. Had hoped this would work but he did not like nylon which feels a bit thin and has a sheen that wasn't to his liking. We sent it back but with reservations. I think it would make a good mid layer under a top shell and he may have really liked it had he been willing to give the coat a try. Would have preferred a wrist cuff at the end of the sleeve like some Columbia have as opposed to the tapered cuff that has no adjustment but overall its seems a good general use jacket. We just needed something with this level of insulation and style in fabric that is tougher and will hold up to more vigorous use. Still a good purchase for the right consumer.

I haven't had a chance to wear this in weather below 30 degrees yet, but the jacket is light weight and seems to fit well. Has a reversible zipper so it will fit into my shell without any trouble (though there are no hooks on the sleeves to keep them in place) I expect that this will provide good service when the weather turns again.

This jacket is great! It keeps you warm on windy to cold day and it has 2 inner pockets! The 2 outer pockets and two inner pockets totally make it worth it!

I wore this last week skeet shooting when the temperature was in the 30's. Very warm and mobile.

It has been a record cold winter in West Central Wisconsin and the Marmot Caldera jacket has been up to the task. I have not worn it for extended periods of time in sub zero temps, but the jacket has kept me toasty this winter. I am 6'0 tall and 230 pounds and the XL has plenty of room for a light fleece jacket underneath. A big plus is the zipper, which is quite a bit bigger than jackets from other manufacturers. For a light weight winter jacket the Marmot Caldera is a top quality product. With the great prices and service from SierraTradingPost.com this is a real "cant't miss!"
