It seems like primaloft (trade name) is at such a premium price wise so I found Marmot...(insulation supposed to be as good as primaloft) so far it is working out well...I like the extra mobility and the light weight alternative for sports and for general running around. If I was to sit still in my... Read More

Wanted a light insulated jacket to layer under Marmot shell. This jacket looks good alone in the red color with grey zippers. It will also zip into the shell that I had for a couple of years. I believe it is a Tamarack jacket. The color was exactly like the picture and matches the jacket very well. For the price of the jacket vs. the Patagonia I was considering, I think this is a real bargain. Thanks again Sierra Trading!

Ordered this jacket and the Mountain Hardware Ratio jacket at the same time, both in a size L. I'm keeping the Ratio... The Caldera was too short for my liking as an exterior layer, resting at the same point on my waist as my jeans. I also found it to be more restrictive in the shoulders which made it uncomfortable. The sleeve length, however, was perfect for my 35/36 arms. Perhaps an XL would be better for me, but since I'm keeping the MH Ratio, I have no intention of exchanging the Caldera. The only feature this jacket has over the Ratio is the pockets and zippers. All in all, a good quality jacket that I wanted to work for me. The price was fantastic and I've own several other Marmot jackets that I've been very happy with. But if you are 6'3", 210 lbs., with a moderately athletic build, try the XL.
