It seems like primaloft (trade name) is at such a premium price wise so I found Marmot...(insulation supposed to be as good as primaloft) so far it is working out well...I like the extra mobility and the light weight alternative for sports and for general running around. If I was to sit still in my... Read More

Great jacket, not too heavy, good for every day and most activities. I like the two chest pockets. Only drawback is that it is a little bit short.

Very pleased with the jacket. It is lightweight. Like the color.

I ordered several thin puffy coats to try out before I decided on this jacket. Overall, this jacket fit me the best and is most "true to size" in my opinion. I am 5'-11", 180#, 41-42 chest. I tried a medium and a large. The medium was too small in the shoulders and arm length for me. The large was good through the shoulders and arms, but a little loose in the torso, but overall the best fit. I also compared this jacket to the hooded version and decided against the hood. While I think the hood is a good idea, because it appears the hood is helmet compatible, I didn't want to mess with having an oversize hood on a jacket that was, for me, more of a casual around town jacket. This is not as lightweight as the micro puffy down versions from Mountain Hardware or Patagonia, however, the outer nylon seems more substantial than the super lightweight jackets and overall I think this jacket will take a little more abuse. So far I am very happy with this jacket.

I'm impressed with the warmth of this coat. For such a thin and lightweight item, I wasn't expecting much in frigid temps, but last week it got down to -7 in MA and this coat kept me warm. I was only out in the cold for about 10 minutes, but I was surprised it kept me warm at all and it's perfect in 20-30 degree temps. The coat looks great (I have the black) and fits well. I especially like the snug arms which make it easy to do activities of all types while wearing this. It fits true to size. It also has an inside media pocket and a zip pocket which come in handy. I highly recommend.

I bought this jacket to replace my Patagonia Nano Puff which was wearing thin after a few years of almost daily use. The Caldera is slightly heavier, bulkier, and warmer than the Puff, which is fine with me. Fits true to size. I'm 5"10', a solid 190, and the Large fits perfect over any base layer, sweater, shirt and vest. The jacket is manufactured to the usual Marmot standard and has micro fleece backing the collar and lining the pockets--nice touch. Nice jacket and a very good price.
