I live in Alaska and these boots have been warm and waterproof in the snow and winter conditions so far. The arch is amazing and makes the boot wearable all day. I love these boots. I even bought a pair for my daughter.

Very nice boots, great comfort and perfect fit.

I am an 8 in Chaco sandals, a 7.5 in Chaco Bulloo water sandals (best arch fitting size). The 7.5 in this boot is perfect, and I'm pretty much a "true" 8.5M in other brands of shoes, boots and sandals. Don't go by the size but by your normal experiences in this brand if you have any. The 8 was fine in these until I put on the 7.5. The 7.5 fit my arches like a glove without my toes being cramped. They are VERY light... awesome!!!!! If you have any doubts, order your normal Chaco sandal size AND the half size smaller. Returns are so easy with return express. Just order something else... can be only a few dollars... and you get free shipping to return and for the new order. STP 101.

    These are as described.

I stupidly got a size up to cover myself as I thought i'd be wearing massive thick socks with them. I'm in Australia so to return and buy the right size will cost me $150.

    If you're a size 11 / 11.5, do not get a 12. They are massive.

Other than that they look great! I got them to go to Europe in winter and they look very suitable for that.
  • Verified Buyer Reviewed by Barn Hand from Upstate New York on Wednesday, May 21, 2014
These boots are comfortable on my wide foot, true to size and have a funky look I like. I would have given them 5 stars but they are *not* waterproof, the feature that, ironically, was the reason I bought them in the first place. (I had hoped to use them at the barn on days when Muck boots are too warm) However, I like them so much in every other respect that I didn't send them back.

I live in upstate New York and in my opinion these are for spring/fall -- NOT winter boots unless you live in LA, Phoenix or someplace similar - there isn't a thermal lining. The only wool is the felt at the top. These are no more or less warm than a pair of suede desert boots - just taller. The description of these boots is not very helpful, but... as a person who used to work on film crews in So Cal, they would be great for that purpose as they seem to have enough support for a long day on your feet.

I ordered these and the Chaco Belyn Baa Boots, and the other pair one. These were just a bit too casual for me (and the others just looked cuter with my outfits). Otherwise, the fit was great - I got an 8.5 and they ran true to size for me. The fabric was interesting and color and design were nice if that is what you are looking for... if I were made of money, I would have kept these, too. But I only budgeted for one pair, so I sent these back.

    • Answer I didn't wear these boots out of the house. I tried them on and decided to keep the other Chaco boots instead and return these because I liked the style of the other ones better. So I am not sure how these would grip. The other pair that I did keep, I wore in snow and ice walking around Breckenridge, CO, and I would recommend those. Good luck!

    • Answer I bought these for my daughter. She loves them. She said the grip is great. They are a bit of a narrow fit for the size. So, if you have narrow feet, these should be perfect.

    • Answer Thanks :) I think i'll get a size up to be safe. I have no idea about snow, I've only seen it once when i was 14.

    • Answer The sole is quite flat, with not much tread to grip except done lateral grooves.I did wear these in the winter and I don't remember slipping in them though. They also aren't insulated, so keep that in mind for the cold.

    • Answer Unfortunately they are not very 'grippy' on the bottom. In fact, in Maine, when it is icy out, I put a pair of Trackers on the boots to get better traction. They are warm and comfortable, however.

    • Answer not very grippy. They are not comfortable. I sent them back because the shaft of the boot and ankle are a weird fit. If you have very fat ankles maybe they would work. They look better off:(

    • Answer I didn't wear these much during the winter, so cannot answer your question fully. The tread seems ok. I prefer a more chunkier and deeper tread on my shoes than what these are. The best thing I can say about these boots is that they are warm and waterproof!

    • Answer They are not grippy relative to any mountain boot. Trekking would have been more aptly "trucking." Thank you for pointing that out; I hope it did not create great confusion!

    • Answer Hi,
I have no trouble with them slushing threw the winter snow or rain. They have a good thick sole, however best with a heavier sock. As for walking on ice or slippery surfaces I thought they did ok, not my favorite for that they're not so grippy. I love these boots for they are comfortable for all day wear.
Soren are best for ice or slippery surface , snow since they are made for that kind of stuff. Might want to see about them for Ice conditions. Other then that these boots are great for all day wear, and doing things in .

    • Answer Yes, you will most likely slide! :-) First, you don't want to wear these with any wet climate bc of suede material, second the boots have a small amount of traction but not enough for trekking. Plus the rubber siding of boot doesn't have enough margin to keep the boots dry for any accumulation of wetness. Written all that said tho, I LOVE this boot SO much. They are incredibly comfortable with lots of support for ALL day walking, shopping, etc. They are stylish and warm, can be casual professional or just plain casual. We love in Texas where it barely gets too cold AND I looked for excuses to wear them!! (& I did wear them even thru April :-) r

    • Answer My daughter's love these boots. We live in a very harsh winter climate with lots of ice and snow during the winter months and they had no problem getting around. There is actually a lot of traction on the sole of the boot. The only problem that I had with the boot is that I have high arches and couldn't get my foot comfortable in these boots so I had to send my pair back, but my daughter's love them. Of course, you still want to be careful on ice, but for everyday wear they are awesome.

    • Answer The boots are not super 'grippy, but you won't be sliding around unless you walk on sheer ice. They are also not good for very cold weather, best in upper 20s and low 30s.

    • Answer These boot seem to run about 1/2 to a full size long, and are narrow. My daughter usually wears a 6 /12 to a 7, and has narrow feet. I bought her these boots in a 6 and they fit her feet perfectly. I normally wear a 61/2, but do not have narrow feet. I could not wear these in a 6. They are long enough, but too narrow.

    • Answer I have a largish foot, and size 10 often feels too tight, so I ordered a 10.5, which is my dream size that hardly anyone makes. I consider myself a true 10.5 and the boots fit wonderfully. I love the great arch support.

    • Answer In my experience Chacos run big. I wear a 7.5 hiking boot and sneaker and 8 in boots, but my chaco sandals are size 6.5. I got these boots in size 7 and they still are a bit long. Chacos are usually pretty wide but these are on the narrower side in the toe so I like the extra length (I have wide feet).

    • Answer My feet run about 1/4-1/2 inch big, so I have troubles fitting size 11's if they run small. I can fit these just fine with socks, so I'd say they run a little big. They do fit similar to the sorels I've had, which I feel run about 1/2 Size large. I find these boots quite comfortable for wearing all day.

    • Answer *high arch on boot
*can be difficult to get heel in because of arch
*slightly big--I can wear thick socks with these

I wear a size 8.5-9 in shoes and ended up buying size 9. My feet are maybe a little on the wide side and I do not have a high arch. So personally I don't think the 8.5 would have worked for me because as it is my heel doesn't always easily slip into place.

    • Answer On the advice of another reviewer, I ordered a 1/2 size smaller (8.5M down to an 8M), and they turned out to fit perfectly. These are pretty much the only shoes I've worn all winter because they're so comfortable.

    • Answer I wear a 7.5 normally and I bought a 7. They fit well with thicker socks and I can wear regular socks as long as I lace them tight. For me, a half size smaller worked great. I would go for a 7 in Chaco's, especially if you aren't planning on wearing really thick winter socks.

    • Answer Yes , these shoes are perfect to go out and play and walking - it gets pretty cold here Texas and these shoes are just right for the littles to run and and keep warm and dry I think after play I would have then clean them before putting away , so they will ready for the next play time.

    • Answer I would not recommend them for snow deeper than 3 or 4 inches deep. They maybe waterproof but the tongue is not connected on the sides so snow above the ankles will melt in. I'm also not sure that they would be warm enough. They are not really snow boots more like around town winter boots. There is not too much insulation above the toe box. I would recommend looking into keen or Sorel for kick around snow boots.
Answered on 12/9/2013 5:22:47 PM by Jac from Vermont
    • Answer According to our fit models these boots are running true to size and width. One reviewer states, "They're perfectly warm in 30-40 degree weather and will probbaly work for me until it get's under 15 degrees or so, which is what attracted me to them. They're non insulated so they aren't mid winter boots. They serve their purpose and I like them."
