I work out in the field a lot, trudging through briar patches and shrubby areas. These are sturdy and generally keep the briars off my legs, which is what they are built for. Unfortuantely, they are just men's pants that have been shrunk down. Not that I care about being too sexy out in the field, but seriously- who wears pants that literally come up to their belly buttons?? Answer: Grandpas, that's who.

After reading the other reviews on these pants I couldn't decide if I should or shouldn't order them. Knowing what the pros and cons were I took a chance and am glad that I did. If you can wear "straight cut" jeans well, then these field pants will work for you. The reviewer who commented on the back pocket was right. It would be a better design if there was a flap with button so that the back pocket would be more secure. When I'm in the field, I like to put my wallet (I carry a very slim wallter) in my back pocket. With these, I will have to but my wallet in my vest which has a zippered inside pocket. I'm only giving 4 stars because I haven't worn them yet . . . I have to hem them still. These were a great price. My pants from another source was about $15 more but I was able to get those hemmed at not charge.

I really wanted to like these pants, never disappointed by the quality of any Filson product...but I had to return them due to their fit. I am a size 2 and ordered the smallest size available, 4 so I assumed a little loose but...I truly believe they were simply men's pants scaled down to a smaller size, so, not at all made for a woman.. Unfortunately, this is typical of most outdoors/hunting clothing for women. Very unflattering to put it gently. The quality IS excellent and they seemed very durable and would have been perfect for the dove hunting trip I purchased them for but, they were a no-go.

These pants fit well (5'3", 160#), sized correctly without the big drop in the crotch I see in so many womens field pants. The waistline sits just below the belly button. The fabric is dense, a bit warm, and sturdy. Wash these before you wear them the first time, thought, as the fabric dye will stain your shirts etc if you sweat or get wet at all.
