I have many Carhartt products that I have purchased from STP and this rancher coat is a great addition. I have a slim build and had concerns about the reviews noting the full cut, but that's what I was looking for -something where my insulated Carhartt vest could comfortably fit underneath the coat ... I needed an in between winter and spring coat. This was a great purchase. I can't tell where anything in the construction would make it a 2nd. The fit is excellent, and it will serve me for several years on my farm.

After returning a large for a medium, the boss was ecstatic with his new Carhartt coat. The sizes tend to run a little larger than expected, still this coat should withstand punishing New York winters without problem especially on the roof dealing with various building problems that arise when you run a busy commercial Manhattan hi-rise.

Carhartt products are legendary for their durability and fit among the outdoor working crowd. This jacket was ordered for my boss who works until he is blue outside of the building we run. He has a tendency to tackle projects in his "good" coats and before he realizes it the coat becomes covered in grime or dirt, destroying his coat. This coat was to remedy that situation.

He normally takes a medium but we ordered a large thinking that he would wear bulky undergarments beneath the Carhartt coat. Sure enough it was way too large. We've since return it for the appropriate size and are awaiting its imminent arrival. Thanks Sierra Trading for your prompt courteous service.

Over the years I've bought a dozen or more Carhartt garments--coats, pants, shirts and so on--usually but not always from Sierra Trading Post and usually but not always "seconds". This is the first article of Carhartt clothing I've been dissatisfied with and the first I've returned. First, the quality: the lining is not well put together and stuffing came out the first time I washed it. You could feel the little pockets of insulation and tell that some had filling and some did not. The lining fabric around the shoulders looks like the sort of stuff they make kids' halloween costumes out of.and I doubt it would last a season. The exterior cloth is heavy enough , but the interior spoiled it. If the coat had a decent lining it would be a lot better, except for the fit. All my Carhartt coats have (and I don't really know what you call these) expansion pleats in the back so you can lift things and move around without binding and this, I think, is a good idea. On this coat, though, the expansion pleats didn't stay close to the coat, but made the back of the coat stick out like water wings. I didn't buy the coat as a fashion statement, but really don't want to look like Quasimodo when I'm walking around. Maybe the coat I got was more "second" than the one you'll get if you buy one, but you're taking a chance. At worst you will just lose the $6.95 return shipping fee if yours turns out like mine.
