Lighter weight than I expected for "mid-weight", but with the STP savings it was a good value. Given how kids outgrow things, I don't want to overspend on clothing. My daughter is 54" tall, 70 pounds; son is 53" tall and 62 pounds. The small fit both almost perfectly. But they both have skinny legs ...

I bought these a size up for my 3 and 5 yr olds. They were on the long side, but fine around, and my five yr old is skinny. Other than that, the kids wore them for two days skiing and had no complaints.

I bought this for our 8 year old as a base layer to go under his pants for some chilly morning CA desert camping trips but it worked even better as his pants for hiking and scrambling around on the rocks out there. It kept the dirt and dust from going up his legs and seemed to be better than pants for climbing around on that rough granite out in Anza Borrego in the palm canyon hikes. Picked up a second pair for our upcoming Joshua Tree trip.

size XS would be ok for 5T. I ordered this size for my very slim average height 6-yr old son and they were VERY tight and also short.
