Love this! Got it for my GSD pup. Will definitely be ordering from here again once this bed gets chewed. But so far so good; the fluff seems to be making it less appetising for her haha. The crate mat is substantial and provides good support for my dog. The mat is dense. The cover serves the purpose intended but I expect that it will not be as durable as something made from a canvas material. All in all, the mat is a good product for the money.

My dog loves the bed, but the cover is not machine washable. Although the Sierra Trading Company information on line says it is machine washable, the tags on the product clearly say "spot clean only". Dogs smell doggy and this bed will too without a separate cover.
The inside of this bed is more like egg crate material, with a more dense foam in the middle. I included a photo.

The AKC mat is comprised of composite (think particle board) chunks of foam, formed into a mat. The Memory foam is different product made of clear, new foam. Memory foam on human beds tends to trap heat and perspiration and I have not put them out for my guys (a pair of Newfs), as they even shy away from the AKC mats in warm weather. Thus for a crate, I don't think I would confine them on the heat-trapping memory foam; the AKC mat is probably OK in an enclosed cage.

I have not opened it up but it feels like memory foam from the outside. I do know my dog really loves it.
