I bought this mat because I have an old dog with arthritis and was hoping she would rest easier. She took to it right away and you can tell that she really enjoys going into the bedroom at night and jumping right on her orthopedic mat. So far, she gets up every morning without limping like she us...

Our dog isn't old, has no joint problems and has had no surgery, but still loves this mat. We picked it up for a 30''x20'' crate expected a bit of a tight fit and the dimensions were true. It does fit the crate and little Milo now has a new favorite place. Good product, good price. Would buy again.

I have purchased several of these crate mats, two in this size and a third in a larger size. These are thick, sturdy, very soft and very much loved by my two dogs. I must say that the outer cover although soft and comfortable is troublesome to remove if you want to wash it. If you do take it off and wash it, you will not be happy trying to put it back on.
I ditched the outer covers and found I can use a twin sized fitted sheet to wrap twice around the crate mat and they work great. The sheets are easy to take on and off and launder as we need - which for my hairy and frequently sandy crew is about once a week. I also have placed each mat in a large plastic bag to keep them dry - something to think about if you have an older dog who has bladder issues.
I cut one of these crate mats in half because I needed a smaller spot for my smaller dog. I could then place the cut halves in plastic bags and then into a couple of pillow cases. He now has two more ultra-comfy places to rest.
So, don't hesitate. These are great. You can use them as is or modify like I have. They are very much worth the price.

I was very disappointed in the quality of this dog bed. The foam was low quality and did not seem "orthopedic" to me. My dog has a habit of trying to Fold her bed when she gets uncomfortable, and due to the poor quality of the fabric on the bottom it tore within a very few days. If your dog just lays on their bed and never tries to turn it into a "nest" when they get uncomfortable, this might work very well for you. But if your dog is hard on their bed at all, I would not recommend this crate mat.
The American Kennel Club, (AKC), is very cautious about using any harmful chemicals in their products--remember, dogs are their business !! I have used this product for several years for all my bird dogs, and have never seen any type of reaction. It is also recommended by several of my vet friends. Also, the covers are removable for washing.
