This mat is soft and cozy. It fits well in our large kennel. Non raised section is rather thin, so if you are looking for a more padded mat, this might not be the best fit. Our dog is young and doesn't need the extra padding yet, so it works well for us.

I bought this to be a vacation bed for my dog. It's very nice; thin but has something like a foam layer under the plush fabric that makes it cozier, and the little bumper all the way around is also nice. But I was disappointed that the first time I threw it in the wash (it is supposed to be machine washable), the stitching came undone in a couple places along the edge of the bumper and the stuffing started to come out. It did clean up really well in the washing machine but I'm a little afraid to wash it again for fear it will come apart in other places. Perhaps sticking to the gentle cycle may help it last longer.
One would have to be very generous to call the bottom of the mat a "cushion". It's probably about a quarter inch of padding between the plush top and thin bottom layers. Nonetheless, my white Lab seems to love it so I guess it's adequate.

This AKC mat only has the cushion around the edge. The bottom is the same plush fabric covering a cheap "skid proof " bottom. The smaller mat size was okay for the smaller dogs but I did not like how weak & flimsy the extra large mat was & returned it. The smaller mats have held up nicely & wash well.

This is cushioned only along the edges. It is very well-made and sturdy though. It also washes well.

It is like a thin quilted blanket on the bottom, with most of the cushion on the sides. The side cushions help keep it in place. My dogs have been fine with this for 9 years. They love the "cave/den" of the crate, and don't care what is on the bottom.
