Before I wrote my review I wanted to wear these for a while. I am another one with problem feet, really one problem foot (my right big toe) and require enough height in the toe box so it doesn't get smashed. My regular size shoe is an 8 medium width and I used STP's standard recommendation and we... Read More

Great boot; sturdy construction. Comfortable with nice long laces that make it easy to tie up,; came with two sets of laces, which is nice. DO NOT take these boots out of the box and hit the trail. I actually wore them to work for about a week straight before I could break in the uppers. My shins and ankles were literally sore from the process. Woe to the person who doesn't heed that advice. No issues with slippage on the heel. Haven't had a chance to actually hike in these yet, but I'm sure they'll be great.

These are great, high quality boots. They are leather, with no venting. The toe box is wide and the shoe provides good arch support. I wore these hiking in Ouray with no break in and had no issues. I wish I would have purchased two pair. I ordered a half size up and they fit well with my wool socks and orthotics inserted. They do attract the dust and dirt and look used after the first wear, so if you want your boots to look new for a while, these won't.

I bought these boots for a trip to Norway and they proved to be an excellent choice (and awesome STP price!). I ordered up 1/2 size to allow for comfort in steep terrain with medium weight hiking socks. Even was fitted with crampons on these for a glacier hike and they worked out very well - feet stayed dry even in slushy ice. You don't need to, but I changed out the insoles for a pair of Pinnacle Pulse inserts and these made them very comfortable. Good ankle support and very soft leather around the inside of the ankle - no chafing at all - even on the first wearing.

I have two pair of Keen boots and like both of them. These hiking boots fit true to size with a roomy toe area. They are light enough to be comfortable to spend most of the day in.

I just wore these while hiking in Alaska. With minimal break-in time ahead of time, they were still very comfortable. The sizing is perfect, I wear a size 8 and went to 8.5 to wear wool socks and they are perfect. They even give me enough space to wiggle my toes, nice wide toe box. I also accidently stepped in water that was running inside ice caves, so it was pretty cold, thank goodness my feet stayed dry!

    • Answer I just took mine for a "test hike" last weekend. You can remove the insole that comes with them and insert your own custom orthotics or off-the-shelf inserts - Pinnacle makes some great ones (Pinnacle Pulse) if that would help for your arch support needs. I like Keen for the wider toe box and found it very comfortable. I ordered my normal size and a half size larger (for downhill comfort) and decided to keep the slightly larger ones and am very pleased with the comfort. The ankle collar is lined with very smooth soft leather and I had no rubbing problems. It's an excellent boot especially at Sierra's price. Worth trying to see if it works for you width-wise!

    • Answer Yes, I believe this boot would accommodate a wide foot. I also have a high arch but I have not worn this boot for a long hike therefore I cannot say whether the arch support is adequate. I have worn the boot inside the house for close to 10 hours (not consecutively) with no problems.
Hopefully this response with help with your decision.

    • Answer There is arch support and I don't feel it is overly drastic or else I wouldn't be able to wear them as I have low arches.

    • Answer I love wearing these boots. Comfortable right out of the box. I have a wide foot and I think the arch support in these boots is excellent.

    • Answer Yes this could be the boot for you. Not drastic arch support but well placed. There is a bit of padding on the out side of the foot as well for when the foot tips that way. One of my daughters has wide feet and is very pregnant. Keens are the only shoe that allow her to manage a day of remodeling in an effort to prepare for baby.

  • Question “what the difference between Reg and Med on these boots?”
Asked on 12/11/2013 12:12:39 PM by Ms Cascades from Oregon
    • Answer Reg and Med are the same size. We received multiple shipments of this item that were marked slightly different. We are working to correct this in our system. We apologize for the confusion.
