I have a lot to say about these shoes. First, I don't think they feel very narrow... I have regular feet- not very narrow- and these fit great width-wise. I wouldn't recommend this size for WIDE feet, but they work for the average foot.

But BECAUSE I thought they were narrow, I sized up to a ... Read More

I love the pink and gray print on this pair of Birki's! Makes me happy just to look at it. I need comfortable shoes since I have plantar fasciitis (had to look up how to spell this) and my closet is full of footwear by Birkenstock, Dansko, Sanita and Keen.

I *DID* actually use paragraphs when writing my review! Sorry for the big, long paragraph that showed up!

I have a lot to say about these shoes. First, I don't think they feel very narrow... I have regular feet- not very narrow- and these fit great width-wise. I wouldn't recommend this size for WIDE feet, but they work for the average foot.

But BECAUSE I thought they were narrow, I sized up to a 41- which is a size 10-10-1/2 in US sizing. Well, my foot is a 9.5 in most shoes. These 41's fit perfectly, if not only slightly big. If I had ordered my regular size, they would not have fit right.

When I first put the shoes on, they were the most comfortable things I had worn in a long time. I am a walker/jogger, and I've been dealing with arch issues and plantar fasciitis, which means my feet hurt most of the time. I usually wear walking shoes with supports in them from the time I get up in the morning until I go to bed. But these were so comfortable, I wore them that whole first day!

And that brings me to the next thing. The shoe molded wonderfully to my foot that first day, becoming so very comfortable in the toes and the heel! But by the end of the day, I was actually limping. The bed did not mold to the ball of my foot, and it felt like I was walking on a rock for the last hour of the day. I was so relieved to take them off! I thought, "Darn, back to my sneakers tomorrow..." But the next day, I put the shoes on, and they were comfortable- and have been since. My guess is my feet were having trouble, but the shoes were working themselves out. Now, I don't want to wear anything else. And thankfully, I bought two pairs- the Norway brown one and the plaid ones.

Annnnnd the final thing I have to say. These are super cute shoes, with very cute prints. I am a mid-30's woman, and I have always been a shoe fanatic. People compliment me on my shoes all the time. But these? Well..... I will likely get some compliments on how they're cute, but these are NOT flattering shoes. The toe shape is ugly. The shape is very Birkenstock-esque, and that's just not cute. My husband complimented me on my jeans and my shirt the other day, specifically, when I was wearing these shoes. And I said, "And my cute shoes?" And he was silent. Nope, they're not cute. They're not good-looking shoes, even though they're cute.

So I gave them 5 stars? Yep. Because after wearing these, I want to wear them constantly. I will be wearing them as "slippers" this whole winter season, because they have the necessary foot support for me. My feet will thank me. And I will accept the ridicule as part of wearing Birki's. :)

I bought the floral pattern and find them to be so cute! Very different from the usual Birks and I love them. I tied them on with the straps crossed or straight across. Works both ways. Great price too!

I'm still in the process of breaking these shoes in, which is why I only gave them 3 stars. I have a job that keeps me moving most of the day and I've worn these a couple of times and was surprised at how comfy they were just out of the box. The heel of my foot is still adjusting to the foot bed of this shoe, which is hard, so be prepared for that. Also, the toe of the shoe has a ridge, and that takes getting use to as well. These are my first pair of Birks so when I was ordering, I thought the narrow width would be a problem, but they fit my foot just fine. The material is fantastic. It's easy to clean and flexible, so it fits the foot nicely.
