I broke my ankle two years ago, and I have to change boots/shoes often to keep the irritation under control. These boots give adequate ankle support and are nicely padded.     Nice boots but unfortunately i had to return mine. As I was breakin them in (at work) the side stitching came loose. I dont think this boots will survive strenuous hikes in the long run. I replaced it with Hanwag Saponi - high quality European made boots.

    I give this product 4 instead of 5 as I have just received them and I am still in the process of breaking them in. The slipped on just like Raichle's of the past and the size (ordering one-half size larger as instructed) seems to be correct. They are pretty much as I had hoped for and time will tell if the garner a 5.
