This butter dish did not close at all! Myself, my husband, my daughter and my son-in-law all tried to no avail. It was attractive and appeared sturdy but it did not "snap-lock" at all. Instead, the base and cover seemed mismatched. I was disappointed, but did make the effort and returned it as I had bought three.

Cute dish, but obviously a second. The lid is supposed to snap tight on the base for a tight seal and so you could, theoretically, pick it up by the top. Instead, the lid is way too large for the dish and just sits there. The blue gasket probably does some good, but no way is it airtight, and if it gets bumped in the fridge, the lid will fall right off. I thought of returning it, but I'll just put a rubber band around it instead. Bummer.
