I find these socks misnamed. They are labeled as light cushioning, but it is quite a bit in my opinion. I like them for running outdoors in the winter as well as wearing them as everyday socks on cold days. They probably would be a bit too much for warm days. They would serve well as hiking socks to... I ordered these in Silver #6325J-01-M. The toe box is large causing an overstuffed feeling in my shoe. It is not as rounded / tapered as other SmartWool socks I own. I have a narrow, thin foot. They might work better for someone with a wider foot.

Like all other Smartwool socks these deliver the gift of relaxation and comfort for your feet. You can't go wrong with Smartwool. They give your feet a wonderful energizing feel.

I have never owned wool socks. But my daughter walks 10 miles per day and loves them. So I ordered these to try them out.
I love them also wish I had bought more because I gave her a pair of mine. Great color.
I have not washed them yet so do not know how the shape will stand up. She dries hers in dryer but I will hang dry mine.

These are my go-to socks for everything. The cushioning is just right -- not bulky -- and my feet never sweat in them. They hold up beautifully after hundreds of washings.

  • Question “What shoe size is a large?”
Asked on 4/30/2014 4:27:13 PM by Alison from Texas
    • Answer I wear size medium (7- 9.5.) Not sure about large, but most likely 9.5 and up?
Answered on 4/30/2014 5:51:13 PM by Star919 from VA
    • Answer According to SmartWool's website, the Large, in a woman's sock, is a Woman's shoe size 10-12.5, which is a pretty big foot.
I wear a Woman's shoe size 7.5 or 8 which, according to their size chart, should be a Medium.
I prefer to wear SmartWool sock size Small because I find the sizing to be very "generous".
If I wear the Medium, as they suggest, they seem to shift around a bit in my shoes and tend to "bunch up" in places.

Since these are made specifically for a woman's foot, I'm not sure what the equivalent size in Men's would be.
I think the foot "volume" is smaller than a man's, even if the equivalent length is established.
I've tried SmartWool's unisex socks and found they don't work well for me for that reason.
