I needed a longer bolt and the standard 8-32 diameter knob bolt is too wide (cannot screw into the knob) so I need to now go on a wild goose chase for a smaller size bolt and hope I can find that size in a long enough length. The knob is hollow - but thick and sturdy - does NOT feel like it will dent at all. The seam where the domed piece is attached to the base "trunk" it is rough and needed to be filed down to prevent cuts when using. The base plate is thin and the edge that touches the door will likely make a mark in the wood when installed if attached tightly. Even with all these negatives, I find that someone with minimal skills and the ability to google for a new bolt should find these knobs useful and they feel substantial enough to be sturdy and functional and a good value overall. I bought the domed version which is a somewhat flattened dome and is about 1 1/4" from base to top of dome. I wish I knew what the difference was from the other option.
