Really love this vest. It's tailored and provides good coverage w/o the bulk. It's warm as a mid-layer, but can go it alone, depending on the weather. For the reviewer "Little Mouse" who asks why you need protection in a mid-layer, these clothes are specifically made to keep athletes warm with th... Read More

I'm a Small/Medium. My Small is a bit wide around my waist. If you are skinny, go down in size if you want it snug. Soft and comfy.

I actually returned the teal version- it was smaller than the black one I already wear and wear almost daily. I thought I'd get another but this one fit snugly and the color was darker than I'd hoped. The black I've had for 6 months and it is amazing- wears and washes well.

My wife now has this in the S and now XS. She loves the versatility of this product and wanted the XS as a snug, form fitting layer. Very light weight yet adds warmth when layered. Living in the southwest offers temperatures in the 20s through the 70s during much of the year. Wool breathes better, offering cooling as well as warming. I think Smartwool offers more flattering form fitting women's garments than other wool providers and she always receives compliments when she wears this out.

My wife loves this layer. I think it looks gorgeous and is very functional. She is 5' 105# and the small fits with a little room to spare so could easily fit over a sweater. The XS would mostly likely fit snugger over a thin to midweight base layer. My intent was to provide a layer of warmth for a temp range of 30-70 degrees which is common in Phoenix and up to 5000'. I love wool as a layer because it breathes so much better than poly and improves thermal regulation. I love that this vest adds warmth without adding bulk. She always gets compliments regarding the fit and style. Good score with STP pricing.

Really love this vest. It's tailored and provides good coverage w/o the bulk. It's warm as a mid-layer, but can go it alone, depending on the weather. For the reviewer "Little Mouse" who asks why you need protection in a mid-layer, these clothes are specifically made to keep athletes warm with the ability to peel layers accordingly. Protection from the wind is the reason. Also, if you read in the description from STP, the nylon face is also for durability. Maybe your daughter would have loved the vest. I love the vest and am happy I purchased it. Hope this helps.
