I am a beginning runner. I have walked for years but only recently started training to run. My footwear typically is an athletic shoe or a hiker. I really don't like shoes and I pull them off the moment I get home. For me, the idea of barefoot makes sense. I also understand that you need protection ... Read More

As soon as the box arrived, I took out the new shoes and put them on. They were immediately very comfy, with just enough arch support and very minimal material between me and the ground. I went for a run in them and they protected my feet just fine. I've used them for Crossfit- they are ideal for that with a good grippy sole and very light weight. I am quite pleased with these shoes, and quite pleased at the good price.

Comfy and lightweight right out of the box. Add neoprene insoles for more cush at work(concrete), or my custom orthotics, with or without socks. Wide toe box for my wide feet, slightly negative heel for comfortable spinal alignment. Yum! Only wish the laces were a bit longer, since socks and orthotics require a looser lace-up. Love these shoes. Prefer them barefoot.

I had another pair of Merrells that had a bit more cushion on the footbed which I preferred because sometimes I walk for exercise instead of running. These are like wearing five fingers without feeling every rock and root. Great for trail running. Not for road. I have no regrets. Just adjusting to this type of shoe. I have enjoyed them on my trail runs.

Initially ordered a half size up, as I normally do for running shoes, but proved to be too large. Sent them back for my normal street shoe size, but ended up being too narrow over the instep (though the length was fine and they had a nice roomy toe box). Also, when I walked, the shoe painfully creased over my toes. Sent them back.
