I bought one of these 2080 reels and tried it on bonefish in Turks & Caicos. I used it on first fish and never put it down. Reel was balanced on my Sage RPLX 8 wt and holds plenty of backing to outlast a 7lb bone. Drag is smooth and wide arbor is a great feature. IMO - at this price there isn't a better value on the market. This reel just moved to the front of my saltwater "flats" arsenal. One more thing, I like the easy out spool feature, held in place by an O ring. I was initially suspect of this but it worked great. Hurry and buy one!

The product is very good. I have only used a couple of times, but it beats my previous model (not by much though). The arbor is larger, so picking up line is faster. The drag is fairly easy to adjust being that the reel is fairly large (compared to my previous reel).

The only thing that I have encountered, is that a larger reel comes with more weight. This makes the rod butt heavy and a bit more has to be made to cast; therefore, it seems a bit more difficult to land flies softly. I hope to get better with time, I have only used this reel about 4 times, while I have had my previous reel for almost 10 years. It's probably just a matter of getting used to it.

I purchased this reel to match a saltwater flyrod I am planning to take on vacation to the yucatan next year(2014). I have not yet have an opportunity to use this reel at this time and therefore dont know how it will hold up fishing for bone fish and other inshore saltwater fish. The reel though does not have capacity to hold 200 yards of #30 backing plus 90 ft. of #8 or #9 flyline. You might have to use gelspun backing to get the right fit. In practice though you rarely need 200yds of backing for inshore fishing.

Very well made fly reel with easy reel spool removal and drag adjustment.
