A friend told me about these socks several years ago. I had sticker shock when looking to purchase a pair at an outdoor store. I saw them on here a few years back and ordered two pairs. I tried other brands and nothing matches smart wool. The price on STP is excellent especially when I get a coupon.... Read More

I have bought a ridiculous amount of these lightweight smartwool socks. I love them, but they wear thin very quickly, and I have a hole in the big toe on a number of pairs. I will try sewing them up, but so disappointing. I wonder if anyone else has had trouble. My big toes are normal, with well trimmed nails, so I don't think it is my feet. I will see how they wear. I have been buying them for the last 6 months.

The socks are very comfortable and hug the foot well. The arch support bands add to support. The bands below the ankle keep them from slipping down, but I still found that I preferred the feel of the other style of ankle sock that is not below the ankle. But these are less visible, so it's just a matter of preference. The socks are not overly thin, but lack the heel and toe padding, which is what "ultralight" means and what I was looking for to wear with fisherman sandals for walking. I'm not a fan of the bright colors for walking/hiking socks. I'm a person who buys neutral colored walking shoes and prefer not to have my socks call attention to themselves. But neutral is hard to find in women's socks. I ordered these in the lime green (few choices when they're on clearance). They are even brighter than pictured, similar to the fluorescent green biking shirts I've seen on men. My particular preferences aside, these are good socks. I do love SmartWool.

They say there is imperfections (it's actually printed on socks, which did wash off) but I cant find any. The socks are nice, I haven't run long distances in them yet, but up to 3 miles and so far so good.

I returned the med and got the large. I wear a 9 1/2 women's shoe and the large is perfect. They are very soft and sheer wool and quite comfortable in my cycling shoes and keep my toes warm. As always I love Smartwool socks and own many many pairs.
