These are my first mountaineering boots. So far, I can only comment on the appearance and fit, since I have not used them outside. I initially bought my street size (size 11), and since they felt like they might have had too much room in the toes and in the heel, I ordered size 10.5 to try and compare. By all means the first pair was a better fit. The foot went in smoother, the width matched my fairly square toe box.. I returned the smaller shoe, kept the ones in my street size. I put a thicker pair of socks and the space filled and walking was comfortable without rubbing anywhere. I could wiggle my toes and felt well supported in the ankle.
