So far this is a great buy and serves me well from week-long camping/backpacking through day pack in The Sierras. No sweat on my back! Plenty of options for packing and accessing my gear. Only thing i wish it had are straps near bottom for rolled tent or pad. It does accommodate extras in the easily-accessible bottom sleeping bag compartment however.

We bought this pack for the extra room needed and love it. You can access the inside of the pack through the front and the bottom opens to put in the sleeping bag. I love the extra compartments. The frame is very comfortable and fits well. We have both sizes, one for my husband and the smaller for myself. The rain cover is neatly stored in it's own compartment in the bottom. A great pack.

I used mine for a 5 night hiking trip on The John Muir Trai in rain, mist, wind. It was very comfortable and held all the over-packing I didn't know to leave behind! So yes, I think it would be perfect. and at the price I bought mine, 100$, it was even better. Looks great too and kept the sweat off my back!

You might be better off with a 60 or 65 L bag. This is pretty full with sleeping bag, tent, food, bear canister etc.. But it has been fine for 2 nights with both my husband and I with these packs.
