The knife was received in excellent condition, and see no flaws in it. Relieved that it was not a 'second' quality knife, since some items I have received were marked as closeouts but were clearly 'seconds'.

The knife is much bulkier than a typical western-style paring knife. The handle is longer, and the blade is both deeper and thicker, although it isn't much longer than a normal paring knife. Additionally the blade has significant curvature, which coupled with the depth of the blade lends itself to a rocking chopping motion. Very nice for mincing up garlic, herbs, and the like.

If you have never used a knife which is honed on one side and hollow ground on the other, you may find it a little awkward when slicing harder vegetables, since the knife will have a tendency to be pushed back to the left (on a right-handed knife, reverse for left-handed knife) as you slice down. A little practice with it will yield fine results, and you will quickly get used to compensating.

My wife said she had to stop and think about the knife when using it to peel a vegetable, didn't work the way she was accustomed with a paring knife. However, a little practice here will pay off richly, and provided you are using the right-handed knife in your right hand, you will find it very easy to use.

Overall, very pleased with the quality, sharpness, and price of the knife. Thank you STP!

Very sharp. Works well to chop, split veggies, slice raw meats and fish. Balanced and fits well in my small hand.
