I have 4 of these and they are a great addition to my deck. Seem to work fine.

I bought two of these things. The generic, poorly translated to English instruction sheet is useless.
We've tried twisting and prying to lift out the center piece and the centers are glued down into the base.
Without being able to lift the center out, you can never change batteries.

It's ridiculous what we had to go through to see and reach the off/on switch and turn the darn things on.
Certainly glad I got these at less than $10 each, but they aren't even worth what I paid for them.
Cheap [...]. I hope they both have good batteries so we can at least get a little use out of them before throwing them out.
I would never knowingly purchase solar lights that are manufactured to keep you from ever replacing batteries.

    Buyer Beware.

I was hoping I'd be one of the lucky 4/5 star raters but NOPE. All I could get was a flickering light that worked for 3 minutes and never again. Unfortunately I mashed the box trying to get it out so not even sure I can send it back.

These lights are cute but non functional. I would have given then just one star but my review wasn't bring posted when I rated it that way. Censorship? The batteries are not accessible! Nor is the ON /Off switch . With severe contortions we were able to mani ever and reach the switch inside the pagoda. However the lights didn't charge well in Boston Novembers sun light. Maybe somewhere else. Here. 2 hours of pale light. And no way to replace battery

This doesn't have a battery compartment so you need to try to do things (like turn the switch to ON or change the battery) through the small lattice holes that barely fit one finger. It is difficult and awkward and time consuming. I thought I might as well see if they worked when I figured out that step. 2 out of 4 did put out a faint light...the other 2 no light. I am not willing to go through the gymnastics to change the battery so these will be returned.

  • Question “How do I remove the light insert in order to change the batteries?”

Asked on 1/7/2014 1:50:10 PM by Andrew from Tennessee
    • Answer According to the instructions:
      To replace batteries:
Depending on the power requirements, the solar light may contain one or two batteries. Access and change batteries as follows:
      1. Locate the battery access door on the bottom or back of the solar light.
      2. Remove the access door retaining screws. Gently remove the battery cover and rubber gasket if equipped.
      3. Remove battery or battieries and replace with type AA NiCd rechargeable batteries. If two batteries are required, do not mix battery types or mix new and old batteries.
      4. Reassemble the solar light.
Periodic maintenance will help to extend battery life. Every 3 months open the battery compartment and rotate the battery (about 5 complete turns) with your fingers. This will help to improve the electrical conductivity of the battery.
Caution: Insert battery with the correct polarity. Never short-circuit the battery terminals. Do not dispose of battery in the fire, battery may explode or leak. Remove battery during long periods of non-use or when product is stored. Dispose of battery safely.
