I've worn these shoes about 10 times and I love them. Very comfortable, very light and great ventilation. Ok, I'll stipulate they do look a little strange but who looks at guy's shoes anyway. If this shoe was advertised as a general shoe to wear around town, I'd have given it at least three stars. Its lightness and breathability is nice. But as a "trail" shoe - forget it. It has NO (read "zero") support and the shoes forever flop and turn your ankles on anything but the smoothest surface. It is supposed to have "outstanding traction". In fact, it's so slippery it's downright dangerous. I am a highly experienced hiker, so wear them on local hikes, and have consistently slipped - nearly dangerously so - on logs, stones, and other surfaces at the first hint of moisture, almost like they've been greased. Finally, I notice no shock absorption. Again, on anything but the most mild, gentle hike, my feet hurt throughout and afterwards. I actually like their looks, but the shoe is almost literally worse than useless for the purpose I bought them for.

True to size, with perhaps a bit more vertical room for my toes than needed (can't tighten the laces more in that area). Plenty of cushioning for running. The sole is flexible enough to not be in the way, firm enough to allow me to step on some rocks and not get poked in the foot. I use them for active hiking, not for running and they are fine for this. The sole feels securely planted but lateral support from the shoe upper at the heel and the rest of the foot is not very strong - better than my light-weight running shoes, not as good as other more rugged trail running shoes I replaced with these. The traction on rocks is not as good either, because the material of the sole is a bit on the soft side and slides due to flexing rather than grip. So, good for running on moderate terrain, I would say, but a bit on the soft side for the toughest uses. Still, at a sale price and for the moderate use I have in mind for them, they are much better than regular walking or running shoes, lighter than hiking boots, and rugged enough to handle my weekend hike fine.

I bought this shoe for walking. It is light weight and very comfortable. I have only worn a few time so far. No real issue about "breaking in." Plan to use on trip to Grand Canyon and hiking trails in Ohio. I wear a size 9 but ordered a 10 1/2. So far so good. I hope the upper mesh lasts.

I reviewed this shoe's waterproof brother, the Conspiracy Outdry, and had high hopes for this version. Out of the box these were a little stiff and rubbed the top of my right foot, but after 3 days the rubbing has stopped and they are just as comfortable as the Outdry ones I have. The biggest difference between these and the Outdry Conspiracy (besides not being waterproof) is that these ones have much more ventilation, and my feet don't get as sweaty and hot as they do in the Outdry. On chillier days I can feel the cold air on my feet. It isn't overwhelmingly cold though. All in all I love these shoes just as much as the Outdry version, but if it came down to choosing one or the other I would go with the Outdry Conspiracy over these non-waterproof ones, simply because it is so valuable to have a pair of shoes that can keep your feet dry when mother nature isn't feeling so kind. Both pairs of these shoes fit me true to size and I recommend them to anyone looking for a lightweight everywhere shoe with great grip. I own quite a bit of Columbia gear and so far I have never been disappointed.
