The grill press is exceptionally well made but I summarized my concerns in the title. Looking at the ridges I thought I could grill on it with a heat source. But the other side, the top, has a knob that keeps it from being paced on an outside grill for grilling veggies, fish, ect. while the meat cooks over the open heat source. This is how my best outdoor grill is made, one side open the other side a cast iron plate. This is a good setup. But you can't do it with this because of the knob which appears to be very difficult to get off--it is not threaded--and even if you did the knob holder that is part of the cast iron is still sticking up. You could get a grinder......but you get the point. It is only a press. That would still be OK with me because it appears to be an excellent outdoor press. But the size is way to big for my biggest 13-14 inch skillets so I can't use it indoors at all. I bought two thinking of all the possible uses but am returning on since it has only one use, meat press for outdoor use. And even then I don't remember ever actually needing a press. The meat, chicken, etc stays right where I put it on the grill without something holding it down.(joke--I know some people prefer a press).
