I thought the first Italian made Remington Premier I purchased from STP was so nice that I had no hesitation in ordering this one from them (see the Elite Skinner II review). Well, it just arrived this evening and has exceeded all expectations. The blade design, grind, and heft is delight to behold from tip to butt and the finish is first class (nicely honed right out of the box, too). This is among the beefiest full tang fixed blades in the ~9 inch range I've had the pleasure of handling. The blade to handle fit is on par with some of the nicer Spyderco builds from Golden, Seki City, or Taichung. The fine craftsman in Maniago have matched the handle seamlessly to the stout tang. The medium+ figured olive wood inserts are fitted nicely standing proud to the G-10 scale surface and the grain directions have been carefully aligned and tastefully matched. The G-10 scales are not at all textured, finish is nearly perfect, and should please even the most discriminating lover of premium scaled handles. The large handle girth, ergonomics of shape, and heightened inserts all work together in providing a secure gripping surface but still flow so smoothly together. The hand made Italian leather sheath (medium brown, single heavy stitching, heavy snap loop closure) is the genuine article, not lacking in any detail, simple in design, fits snug to the blade steel , and is very well made (overbuilt like the rest of this beastly yet refined knife). The Elite Hunter is from the Premier line of cutlery, carries a lifetime warranty, and may be registered personally by the buyer or new/gifted owner with Remington in Madison, North Carolina. It would be hard to imagine any man or woman being anything short of completely satisfied with this superb knife from the builders in Maniago. Remington has shown wisdom in selecting the meticulous artisans from this region to perpetuate the fine Remington name. Another GREAT value from the full service fair dealing folks at STP.
