My unit was factory sealed though was previously used, as description says refurbished. It just had coffee stains around exit port, otherwise in fine condition. No leaks, but stream does condense around the brew cup which at first can look like leaking. A couple of annoyances compared to a drip system, pump is a bit noisy, if water runs out forced air may splatter droplets, some fine grounds get thru filter, and grounds cleanup is more involved. I like the removal water tank that repels water which should stay clean longer and when needed should be easy to clean. Manual recommends periodic vinegar cleaning of the internals. Hotter brewing seems to make for better taste though I noticed a residual oily film on the carafe which must be coffee oil, since I ran a couple of initial test water rinse cycles that did not have residual. Would be nicer to have a way to dial up a brew volume versus the fixed buttons.

I really like this machine. We usually drink a couple cups each in the morning and one or two randomly throughout the day. This machine is great for cup at a time. Contrary to the other rater, you can also brew a pot of virtually any size. It explains how in the directions, though we found the cup at a time tastes better. We also use small melita filters in the baskeet to reduce the tiny grounds that get thru the screen. It does take some self-training as it is more complicated than a cheap drip pot, but you can make a really good cup of coffee every time with a little attention to the instructions. I gave away my Krups 1500 (coffee, espresso and milk streamer) because I prefer this compact and capable appliance.

-Refurbished machine had issues when I plugged it in. The brew buttons only worked intermittently. Very frustrating.
-The machine design/function will not be suitable for most people. The small cup and large cup are programmable fom 4 to 10 oz. That's smaller than what most people drink in the morning for a cup of coffee.
-Carafe (glass pot) only brews 42 oz. This is the dumbest product design I've ever seen. There is no option to brew 4 cups for example. You need to brew a full pot of coffee every time. So it's either 10 oz at largest cup setting or 42 oz. of coffee. Does that make any sense? No.
-Returned. A lot of potential here, but Capresso laid a total dud on this one. Their other coffee products are usually very good. Looks like this was rushed to market to compete with other single cup brewers. Check out Bunn MCU if you're interested in a good single cup brewer.
-Finally, almost forgot. A normal sized coffee mug doesn't fit with drip tray. But, you need drip tray to press button at back for coffee to dispense. So, I had to tape button to have my coffee cup fit.

Bought at STP several months ago, I wanted to use it a bunch before reviewing. It is fast and easy to use with a little practice. Makes a great single cup, fast and very hot (yay!!) at your chosen strength. No expensive alphabet cups, not even the "use your own coffee" types. It makes a fast and hot carafe, as well, but not big enough for two coffee hounds. Tweaks I've learned = the large/small buttons are pre-set sizes, so if you want to fill a giant travel mug, use the carafe function. Fill the water tank with the mug itself: you'll lose almost nothing in the brewing, since there are no filters. THAT BEING SAID: having no filter makes a bit oilier cup of coffee. My solution: cut circles out of 2-4 C. cheap coffee filters to line bottom of basket. One more tip- turn "ON" before you even get started, since machine takes a bit to "power up" (you'll see!).
As for the "tea" function: don't waste your time. Or your tea.
