Perfectly functional all-purpose knife. The clip stays snug and the blade is fairly sharp.

Puma is the best blade out there; this one is like a blast from the past..

The first Puma USA Vintage review I submitted accurately critiques the example received. I liked it so much that I ordered two more for gifting. The overall build/fit/finish of these next two fell short of the first example...short enough that I opted to return them. The PUMA SGB knives need to be considered on a per example basis. Blade centering, scale finish, screw clearance (when applicable), and blade deployment/locking may vary from one example to another. I have had four successful purchases (keepers) but returned these two. I do remain an admirer of the SGB knives as they are a great value from STP so long as a proper example arrives.

I ordered this Puma USA Vintage after having recently purchased a similar (impressive) Puma Bobcat from STP. This USA Vintage model is a very solid mid weight (+) that opens one handed smooth and easy, locks tight (full movement dead centered to the locking hub surface), feels good and grips well in my larger hand, and sports a VERY nice proofed and individual serial numbered German blade (swedged clip point in Satin) that arrived dead center in the liners. The mirror polished full stainless liners are not skeletonized but the build quality certainly would easily allow for this without significant compromise to this stout structure. The Pakka "wood" is quite dark and the checkering is ~medium relief and also quite nicely done. The skeletonized satin stainless clip allows for deep tip down carry; the scale is drilled and liner taped to allow for tip up carry (just a bit more shallow) if preferred. This Puma SGB exhibits remarkable build / fit / finish quality in every detail given the modest retail price point. I appreciate the somewhat "retro" styling captured in this particular model. The deeply discounted STP coupon pricing along with their legendary service / packing make this a really great value. [NOTE: I had the opportunity to contact Puma Knife Co. in Lenexa, KS with some questions about the Bobcat. The outcome was as follows: Blade was not centered in the liners and one clip screw protruded through the liner just kissing the blade when closed. They sent out a shipping label and will either exchange for a replacement Bobcat (now discontinued) or correct the original issue at no charge. These folks display no nonsense first class customer service and honor their product warranty with pride.]
