I usually wear a Men's 9, but sent these back for an 8.5, which still has plenty of length in the toe. Lacing seems good for creating a custom fit, but I haven't actually used these yet.

These boots a very stiff. Like walking on planks. Im would like to return them for a less stiff pair. Shame as I do like the look and overall build. But I dont see how I can break these in!

It is a very nice pair of boots. I need a sturdy boot for my job, and it seems that this will fit the bill. I am pleased with it so far.

Boots are stiff, and stay that way for a long time which is just the way I like a boot to perform. Rubber rand keeps scuffs at bay, and the gore-tex lining keeps your feet nice and dry.

i have just purchased these boots for a forthcoming trip to new zealand for a bit of summer mountaineering. In getting a feel for their fit i have been wearing them on short bushwalks and found them to be surprisingly comfortable. by simply leaving the top eyelets undone the approach walking is ok. when on steeper territory, just do the top eyelets up and you should have a good rigid boot that supports your weight. tightening of the laces may be a bit fiddly with cold hands when on snow and ice. tried them out on a some steep rock and traction was excellent.
    • Best Uses: Alpine Routes
    • Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational
    • Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Put On & Adjust, Great Grip, GREAT price, Great Traction, Lace System A Bit Fiddly, Lightweight, Locking Lace System, Versatile
    • Sizing: Feels true to size
    • Was this a gift?: No
    • Width: Feels true to width

  • Question “I have wide feet (2ee) I wear a wide Asolo fsn95 size 8.5 for regular hiking, is there any hope for me with these boots. Should I go one size up?”

  • Question “Do the boots come in a wider size and will they be adequate for Mt. Shasta in the late Summer (Late July or early August)?”
Asked on 11/21/2012 12:00:00 AM by Jake from Corona, CA
    • Answer Item 75878 comes in a M width only. My opinion is these should work for the late summer they are not insulalted.

  • Question “How does the sizing compare to the Asolo Fugitive?||The Fugitives are true-to-size (9m) for me, but I'm wondering if I'll need to size up for these boots.”
Asked on 7/30/2012 12:00:00 AM by Wasatchmo from SLC, UT
    • Answer I wear a size 9 nine in most shoes. I tried on a Fugitive in a 9 and it fit. I then tried on a pair of Titans in a size 9 and they were to big, a 8.5 fit me great. So, the Titans tend to run a little big.

  • Question “Do they have a front and rear welt? Are they compatible with step-in crampons?”
Asked on 3/27/2012 12:00:00 AM by Phillip from Unknown
    • Answer They are compatible with semi-auto crampons, they do not have a front or rear welt
Answered on 3/27/2012 12:00:00 AM by Prod. Spec. Ryan from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer They are not welted construction, but the rear of the boot has a molded-in "shelf" for crampon attachment. They work fine with my semi-auto crampons (strap front, lever rear). It's not shown in the still photos, but you can clearly see it in the video clip on the product page.

  • Question “I have some concerns about the warmth of this boot. What altitude is this boot suitable for?||Regards Russ”
Asked on 6/30/2011 12:00:00 AM by Russ from Victoria, Australia
    • Answer Boots are not rated by altitude. These are not insulated so they are not meant for severe cold weather, but with proper socks can be worn at most altitudes.

  • Question “I need a good boot for early season bow elk hunting in the San Juan mountains in Southern CO but I also would like to wear them in the Midwest (WI) for hunting whitetail deer. Would these boots work well for both hunting situations or are they way overkill for Wisconsin relatively flat hardwoods?”
Asked on 2/24/2011 12:00:00 AM by Midwest Bow Hunter from West Bend WI
    • Answer They could work for both. They may be a little aggressive for WI, but better to have more than less traction.
Answered on 3/4/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer They would be the boot for me in both situations but may be a little stiff on the flat land for others. Hope this helps.
Answered on 5/8/2011 12:00:00 AM by puck from Stanwood, Mi
    • Answer No they would not. The sole is designed for use with crampons. It is extremely stiff and does not bend. The lugs are not very deep so they'd wear flat quicker than a deep lugged sole. I've lived/hunted in Wisconsin and I have a pair of these boots for mountaineering.

  • Question “can these boots be re-soled by Asolo or a cobbler?”
Asked on 11/28/2010 12:00:00 AM by FlatLander from Moorhead, MN
    • Answer These boots can not be resoled.
Answered on 12/1/2010 12:00:00 AM by Customer Care from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer No. However, I wouldn't count on or recommend resoling mountaineering boots anyway. The lightweight boots generally are about to fall apart by the time you need resoling, and the heavy weights never fit quite the same after.

  • Question “Could you please advise whether these boots have a rear welt? I am looking at purchasing these boots if they are suitable to Petzl Chalet Vasak Spirlock Crampons which are hybrid in style and require the boot to have a rear welt.”
Asked on 8/22/2010 12:00:00 AM by Himalayan Novice from Broome Australia
    • Answer These do have a rear welt that you can use for crampons.
