At the price point you'd be hard pressed to find a better value.

Having had a good experience with Chaco sandals, I just purchased these to replace my last pair of non-Gore-Tex Vasque Breeze hiking shoes. The Chaco Hinterland appears to be a worthy successor. Very lightweight and comfortable boot with lots of room in the toe box. Sizing appears accurate. They also seem well made, but of course, time will tell. Very comfortable for daily use. Sierra Trading Post has an amazing price for this shoe, if you grab a pair during one of their sales.

Boots fit well and are true to size. Light weight and sturdy.
Good points - the soles stuck on steep and wet terrain. It had rained and snowed an inch the night before a survey which was located in steep terrain (extreme ski terrain). My feet didn't hurt after a day of hoofing it up and down mountains with heavy gear (out of the box - hallelujah).
Two minor things. My tongues are not waterproof (not sure if it's just my pair or all pairs), and the boot does not have a shank.
I walk long distances for work carrying heavy things (land surveyor near the Continental Divide), so a shank can come in handy. These new boots are sturdy enough that it's not all that necessary. It's nice to have a lightweight boot.
Other than the tongue (which was a bummer since the first thing I had to do was jump a swollen creek), I would recommend these to week-end hikers and short distance backpackers (say under twenty miles).

I love Chacos, own four pair...but these are hightop sneakers with heavy tread. I was looking for sturdy, supportive BOOTS, and these disappointed me greatly. Comfy for easy walks in the woods, but not for real hiking with any sort of weight on your back. Also, run quite large...I'm returning mine.

i've taken this out on the trail a few times and they were comfortable, true to fit(maybe a hair roomier in the toe-box), good treads. my only minor gripe would be that the top of the tongue could be a bit longer or more padded, but after breaking them in the tongue was fine.
