The actual weight is 2.7 oz (two point seven ounces) and NOT "~2 oz." as was indicated in the main review. D.

Although the styling and general appearance of this model are somewhat unusual the design/build/fit/features are so good that the styling has become more than tolerable and is still growing on me. The cold forged aluminum frame has no liners (open back with only a small G-10 spacer at the end), has a first rate dual ball bearing (!) pivot, a very fine AUS 8 blade finished nicely (high luster satin arriving sharp out of the box), a simple but well functioning liner lock, and weighs in at a mere ~2 ounces. Blade deployment is effortless and when locked has no free play. I prefer the IKBS action to the assisted opening knives I sometimes use (eg, Browning's "back draft" and Puma's "flip" - both of which are nice) because this system is less abrupt and almost seems to open "by the power of thought" rather than by the minimal manual force actually required by the index finger to its flipper. I needed to get up this morning at ~ 2:30 am for just a moment and when passing by this newly arrived Sampa to the next room just had to stop for a moment to remove it from the box, deploy the blade, and then put it away. It is the most liquid of movements I have experienced and also is very quiet. The frame strength and blade size belie its diminutive weight (did I mention that it tips the scale at only ~2 ounces?). When considering the bargain STP coupon pricing and fine company quality of CRKT (they are now Twenty years old) this CRKT/Ikoma collaboration is one fine production knife value. If one can find the styling acceptable (or even if you have trouble with the styling) you are not likely to allow this to stay in the drawer. It is a well designed and built winner that does it all and delivers in spades (and weighs only ~2 ounces). I may just not ever quite get over this strange looking, slick opening stout performer. [NOTE: Some folks like using a heavier folder (even up to 6+ ounces) for even regular uses especially when the blade is thicker and deep bellied and I am one who has no problem loving the heavier designs. Even if this is your persuasion, you must try using this well sized two ounce Sampa.]
