I bought these shoes for long-distance walking (3-5 miles, 10,000 steps) based on the size of regular Clarks shoes I purchased after being fit at a shoe store, plus a half-size for foot expansion. It was immediately clear to me that they were meant to be worn without socks, with socks they were too narrow at the balls of my feet. After my first walk I developed a small blister on the inside of my right heel, nothing major, which I attributed to the break-in process. I suspended my walking to let my feet "toughen up" and tried again a few weeks later. This time I developed a large but shallow blister on the inside of my left heel. That was enough for me; the shoes are going back.

I love my regular Clark shoes (the "unstructured" model), which fit me like a dream (after a short break-in period). But these Clarks walking shoes, while very well made and attractive, are too small for their size. Assuming my size in street shoes would carry over to walking shoes, at least in this case, was a mistake.

I own a pair in the women's line and love them! No one seems to carry them any more. I hope Clark's will continue to manufacture them for next season for men AND women!!!!!

"runs large, order 1/2 size smaller"

I generally wear 8.5 (sometimes 9.0 in running shoes), and had to return 8.0s for 7.5s. So maybe "order full size smaller"? They may be a little narrow on my feet (I'm medium width), but not much.

Otherwise, they are what they look like. A little inconvenient to get into (go on like loafers, and they are pretty snug at the top line) - I found and used a shoe horn.

Very high quality shoe. Since this is the third pair of Clark shoes that I have owned I can say without any reservation that Clark shoes are well made. My foot has been measured to be a 14 narrow (B) and since I ordered another style of Clark shoes before and they were too large I decided to order a size smaller or 13 medium (regular or D). They did not offer a narrow width in my size. The 13 medium fit real well and were a snug fit in the width. I do not believe that I would be able to wear a narrow width. I have worn these shoes for my morning 3 mile walk and my feet felt very good in them. As a matter of fact I continued to wear them the rest of the day. I like these shoes very much and recommend them highly provided that the correct size is ordered. The fact that I had to order a size smaller is the only reason that I did not give them a 5 star rating. They are great shoes.
