I was hoping I could use a pack this small for 3-4 day backpacking trips because many long distance (AT and PCT) hikers use packs this small but I couldn't fit all my gear in it. See this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA75zh9MJ5g

I was hoping I could use a pack this small for 3-4 day backpacking trips because many long distance (AT and PCT) hikers use packs this small but I couldn't fit all my gear in it. See this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA75zh9MJ5g

The other things I didn't like about it were:
    1. I thought it had a hydration sleeve to put a bladder in but I don't think it does. It has hydration "ports" but no sleeve unless you're supposed to stuff it into the zippered internal frame section of the pack (which i don't think you are). I think it's just supposed to rest loose in the pack.
    2. No waist belt pockets (not a big deal though).
    3. No good way to strap anything (like tent, sleeping bag or pad) to the bottom. Well, maybe something light like a pad. But there's no way to cinch something down and have it tightly attached to the pack.
    4. Zipper and outside storage comes down to a "V" at the bottom. I think it would be better if it were a rounded shape for access but then it'd apparently interfere with side pockets.

Everything else about the pack is great. I almost kept it just for day hiking and for hopes I might be able to cut down on my stuff and use it for backpacking, but I already have a good pack for day and weekend hiking and just don't see this being something I'd use so ended up returning it.

Oh - I'm really not used to liters either. 50 L sounds like a lot but it's only 3,000 cu. in. 4,000 is the range my current backpacking pack is. I was hoping to go lighter and bring less stuff but I need more than 3,000. Maybe 3,500 would do.

Anyway - sorry for such a negative review. It is a really nice pack, just didn't work for me.

My "go-to" pack already. Great size. Tough, simple, light and versatile. Granite Gear is one of my favorites.
