Closeouts. La Crosse Technology's infrared thermometer makes taking scientific measurements easier and faster than you'd ever imagined. Just position device 3 to 12 inches from surface and get a temperature reading at the push of a button.

I purchased for kitchen use - food/oven/refrigerator temperatures. It works great for that, but the continuous read feature makes it useful in finding breaks in insulation around windows/doors/electrical outlets. I'm sure I'll find other uses as well. Plus it's a cool toy.

I don't know just how accurate this device is in its measurements, but it is fun to observe fluctuations in temperature on items both indoors and out. Its housing is plastic, so it's not meant for anything that requires durability. Brand new and right out of the package, it didn't work. We found that all of the preloaded button batteries had leaked. After cleaning off the battery connections and installing brand-new batteries, it worked just fine.

Found one corroded battery inside. Cleaned that out and still would not work. Had to place a shim in the battery compartment to hold batteries in place. Now it works fine. Tried calling LaCrosse customer service and could not get thru.
