Wore these boots around the house a few times then on a 30km walk through bush, beach and rock hopping. Great traction on the tread, comfortable fit and no issues with sore feet at the end of it all. Boots held up well to various scrapes. Only issue is that I can't get the tongue to tuck away as neatly as I would like. Great pair of leather boots.

I love to over-research before buying. I spent 3 days looking all over the net and reading reviews to try to find the best mid duty hiking boots possible. Raichle, Zamberlans, & Vasque made the top of the list. It was down to Zamberlans or these Raichles for their comfort, durability, styling, and great price point. Well the Raichle seem to have won several awards for their comfort and all the reviews I've read seem to agree. They are right! very comfy! -Styling wise, especially the black color looks great. These have a traditional boot look to them. Also note that this boot in the brown and black have different outer soles, and the toe guard is different.-Durability: Several reviewers say that the glue gave way and bottems popped off after a year or two! Well, I'll have to see about that. I don't hike a ton, so they should last me longer. I can also have a shoesmith repair them if that happens, or just buy another pair then. -Price point: If you can find your size, STP has great prices. I also got an additional 20% off so I ended up paying just a little over $100 for these! The Zamberlans were about $70 more, which is not a big deal. I did like the styling of these over the Zamberlans, so I went with these. [...]. They are as the reviewers say. Super comfortable out of the box and requires little to no break in period. They do not feel like a heavy or clunky boot, but this can be subjective. I have a normal to slightly wide foot. I normally wear 8-8.5 mens depending on the maker. I ordered these in 8.5 and they feel like the right size. Not too small and not too big. Toe box is just right for me. Vasque seems to have a slightly large toe box in comparison. -Flex: The boot feels stiff and sturdy but somewhat light. Walking around, they feel flexible and not stiff at all if you are wondering. The materials on this boot seem top grade. I have only walked around town and plan to hike with them this weekend. I'm sure they will hold up just fine. I am very happy with these so far, and I am a very tough critic. I hope this was helpful for those on the fence about these boots.

I already commented on these after walking around town. Now this is my review after hiking with these boots. These boots are comfy when you first slip them on, but after being on your feet all day, you do get the feeling they require a bit of break in. No hot spots but you can definitely feel them. I would recommend switching the insoles out for something with more heel cushion like a high end Dr. Scholl's or other brand insole. Then these feel perfect! These boots GRIP everything on dry land. Very little slip or slide in these over dry surfaces. I haven't tested the wet slick rocks yet. The also seem to have a rocking motion to them when walking so it seems to flex from front to back well but not side to side, which is what you want. After a full day, they can feel a bit heavy, but it's a heavy duty boot, so can't complain there. Even after being in them all day, my feet are warm and fairly dry with a good wool sock. Not at all hot and sweaty and NO hot spots! I'm very happy with these so far and hope they hold up for a long time. Also if I'm not carry a pack, I don't lace them up all the way to give my ankles a little more flex room. These are a great all around boot. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, buy a 1/2 size bigger.

I like the wide toe box. great if you have wider feet. Versatile too. Used them on a multi-day crossing of the Grand Canyon as well as on snowshoeing hikes in the Sequoias.

I purchased these with the intent to use them as my all-around hiking boots. I owned a pair of Raichles years ago and they were durable and a great hiking boot. I currently have a stress fracture in my foot and need quite wide boots to accommodate that. These were too narrow for my needs right now. I would recommend them, however, to anyone who needs a solid, multi-day, pack carrying kind of trip boot.
