    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    The pants may be great for skiing, but I don't ski. I bought them solely to hike Kilimanjaro. They kept me warm, but after some 12-14 hours of strenuous hiking, I was soaked from the waist to the ankles. They're very comfortable, but I wouldn't recommend them for hiking any long distance regardless of the temperature.

    My intended use was to go snow tubing with my kids. But that however got canned when we go over 3 feet of snow here in less than 10 days. So the first real use was to keep me warm as I spent hours on end clearing the driveway, sidewalks, and street. End up tubing down the driveway with my kids and was nice and warm. One of the best investments I have made. Wish I had gotten a smaller size or ones with belt loops.

    For our first skiing trip (Steamboat) and not wanting to make a hugh investment, these pants worked great. I bought 3 pairs for my husband and sons. They do need more pockets. My boys learned to snowboard and their only complaint was snow getting down the back (multiple spills the first day!!)
