These are hands down the best backpacking snowshoe by far. The tail design is superior because not only does it track nicely, but the shape allws you to make quick ski like turns when your about to get in trouble. The weight is excellent. I had the blackhawks whihc had a different binding(older) that binding, like the snowshoes was excellent until it's service life is over. These walk naturally, climb naturally and swoosh downhill like a champ. The crampons are great because they aren't overdone and heavy. Most snowhoes these days have crazy crampons that will cut open your other leg when you wipe out or take a mistep uphill and slide down your other leg. 30 stitches in 0 degrees at 4000 plus feet above a trailhead is a decent death sentence. whats more is crampons just ice up anyways and those heavy overdone crampons from others are just a waste. these can hurt you a little if you slip but nothing like another snowshoe these days.
These are second only to wood shoes, and in some ways better. Don't let this backpackpacker editors choice company go out of busimness a second time by buying bigname overpriced [...]. Buy redfeather and make sure that good gear stays profitable and on the market!!!!!!!

Did a 2 hour hike on a rolling snowmobile trail. Binding straps were tight, but the bindings still seemed loose. The binding material is rubbery and did not seem secure. The heels of my boots were all over the place and I had to make an effort to walk to keep the shoes going straight. Also the front crampon was very apparent and hurt the bottoms of my feet. I am going to return these.

I haven't been able to use these yet, but I used the same brand/model last year about once a week. Used the free snowshoes at the ski area while my son was practiced with his ski team. Fell in love with the sport - great exercise and lower impact.

There is no snow, so it's hard to rate them. They look really cool and my wife is going to love the way they look. They seem well built and will probably be great. I do like Sierra Trading Post's [...] prices. I will continue to shop there!
