Although they seem well constructed, the bindings seem to be a weak link. They are not particularly easy to get into and keep tight on your boots. Also, as others have mentioned, the heels of your boots have a tendency to shift from side to side even when firmly in the bindings. That results in less stability because your feet don't track straight laterally.

These snow shoes are great. I just buckled them on and took off. Didn't need poles. A bag would be nice.

I'm new at this snowshoeing business and so far, so good. I live on a farm with hundreds of acres to explore so I decided to get snowshoes to take advantage of them. My first time out, I was so excited to try them I just slapped them on in the dark and headed out behind the barn. They fell off every few steps but that was my inexperience and not the design. Second time out, no problems. I do wish there had been instructions included but the internet was an adequate resource for my needs. Now, just to get more experience! Bring on the snow!

Rated to 175 pounds with current powdery snow conditions 25" is too small for me, so my wife ended up with them, bummer!

I haven't been snowshoeing a lot and I find the binding doesn't hold my shoe straight, it holds it in a toe-in position. The other redfeathers that I HAVE TRIED HAVE A DIFFERENT BINDING THAT IS EASIER TO USE (IN OND OUT) AND IT HOLDS MY FOOR STRAIGHT, WHICH I PREFER. VERY GOOD PRICE THOUGH FOR A QUALITY SNOWSHOE. I JUST THINK THE BINDING COULD BE BETTER.

I tried out these snowshoes for the first time last weekend in the Smokey Mountains after they got a foot of snow overnight -- They worked great! They really let me plow through the powder and keep me balanced going over some rather uneven terrain. One thing to note is that these are rather aggressive snowshoes -- best for steep ascents, clinging to ice, deep snow, etc... I was using them towards the end of my hike (at lower elevation) on a smaller amount of snow (about 8 inches) and I ended up taking them off because the large metal piece that helps you cling to ice that is on the underside of the snowshoe was getting jammed up into the ball of my foot. My fiance didn't have this problem because the same piece on hers doesn't project below the rest of the snowshoe. This wasn't that much of a problem, in the end, because in that amount of snow I didn't absolutely need the snowshoes. I later realized that I could remove the infringing piece by unscrewing it I wanted to use the snowshoes in less snow. Overall, I love 'em. They are the first snowshoes I've owned, and I would let them take me anywhere!
