So far, the snowshoes are as advertised. I haven't had much opportunity to use them as it is late in the season. Looking forward to next year's snow fall.

I had been told that I might get snow on my back by friends with other brands but...lol...they were ALL eating my dust all over MT. Shasta and Lassen. The TINY bit of snow that gets thrown up on your back when striding is nothing compared to the speed and agility that these offer in extreme terrain and normal rolling hills. I have owned other brands which do not hold a candle to these.

  • Redfeather Alpine Ultra Snowshoes - 30
By AK OutdoorsmanVerified PurchaserVerified Reviewer from Soldotna, AK on 04/05/2012
    Pros:
    Construction, Floatation traction, Weight
    Cons:
    Flip up snow
    Best Uses:
    Back country use or trail
    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
The snowshoes are a good quality, light build that seem like they'll last. The floatation is nice along with good traction. The bindings stay where they are adjusted, but they are not the easiest to adjust. They are quite effective snowshoes and would best be used either in the back country or trails. We will include these on the back of our snowmobile whenever we go out. As always Sierra Trading Post has been great to deal with and the delivery was timely. We Alaskans order lots of outdoor gear online and Sierra Trading Post is always the first place I look for online gear.

I was looking for something a little more sleek and mobile than my tubbs altitudes, and expected from prior research that the redfeathers would throw a little snow on my back from the tails stem, but the amount of snow thrown up was much more than expected, even up on the back of my neck. Perhaps the fresh heavy snow added to the problem of me becoming a snowball target, but 20 steps was enough then back to the tubbs with no such problem.

we use them for winter recreation. like that they are lightweight, easy to put on and take off. The narrow back tended to flip snow up, be sure to wear snow pants!

I got them for my 10 yr. old daughter. They are good and sturdy with secure, easily adjusted bindings and well sized for her. The shoes don't pivot well where the binding attaches and will throw snow from the tail onto her bum and backs of her legs. Her boots were full of snow after a 30 minute walk. A better pivot at the binding attachment would make these a 5 star, but as they are, I can only give them a 2 star rating.

These snowshoes work great for competition. They are so light and comfortable the athletes love them. The biggest bonus is the bindings. They stay securely fastened no matter how fast or long they run. In our recent state competition we did not have one binding come loose. In the past we have had several.
