Redington Barrier Island Jacket (For Men)

This jacket looked nice but the material was this weird rubbery stuff. Not good.

The positives about it are: It will protect you from some moderate rain. It is cheaply priced. It looks very professional. Regardless of people saying it is badly constructed, it is not poorly constructed. They must have received damaged items. It's just way too big, which brings me to the negatives of the jacket: It is made for at least a 65/70+ inch chest and mid-section, regardless of labeled size. They run so large you could wear an overstuffed full size pack and cover it and yourself with the jacket. If you need a very large jacket, for rain protection, this is it.

Definetly will keep the rain & wind chill off. Stowable.

Bought this jacket for a trip to Alaska last fall. We got rained on every day and this jacket started falling apart after day one. Seams came apart, fabric bunches up (hard to explain, but anyone who owns this and has been in the rain knows what I'm talking about), does not repel water at all. I spent 6 days extremely wet in Alaska and I spent the entire time cursing Redington. I own a Redington rod and some Redington pants and I'm pleased with them, but this jacket is garbage. You're better off wearing a garbage bag.

Thought it was breathable, it is not...good backup jacket for extreme wet weather, but you'll sweat if it's warm!! But the price is right!

Overall great jacket. I used it yesterday offshore. The condition were windy but the jacket held pretty well.

This is a lightweight wading rain jacket. Unfortunately it is not made of breathable material & holds condensation from body heat. But, it's a good rain jacket that's easy to keep in my truck for those times when someone (me?) forgets to bring one. I'm sure it will see plenty of use. I ordered a XL but could wear a Large in this jacket.

Good stufee fot bad weather!

I purchased this jacket to keep myself dry on rainy days. It was not my intent to be very activbe in it other than walking to and from my car, home and office. I had set out to buy a rain slicker, but this jacket is that and much more along with being a very stylish and colorful coverup.

Haven't gotten it wet but a nice looking, well made jacket. As a woman it might be a bit long to tuck into waders. My only concern it that material may get ripped in brush etc... As I make my way to the river!
