I've wanted a spey rod since I bagan Steelheading but they are generally too expensive for me. This is a great rod at a great price. My friend who taught me to spey cast uses a top shelf rod but casts just as well with mine. I can use massive weighted intruders and T-14 sink tip and still launch across the river. Its all about distance.

This is a great rod for spey fishing. It is good for beginners because it is fast and is forgiving. Not a high-end rod, but a workhorse, it is fun to cast and works for both summer and winter applications. It can throw heavy tips and flies, as well as dries.
