Redington Crosswater Fly Fishing Outfit - 4-Piece, 9'

This is my first fly rod. Construction seems sound and small fighting butt is a nice feature. I have yet to hit the water with it but it responds well while practicing on the lawn with the pre-spooled line. I did not have any issues with the line being spooled backwards as I have read in some other reviews. Look forward to getting it wet this weekend!

I was impressed with the quality of this rod when I received it. The reel is much like a Scientific Angler with plastic construction, but the drag is smooth. The rod is stiff and casting is smooth. Having an 8-wt, I need to double haul in windy conditions. I loaded the rod fully with 40ft of line doing a double haul and its stiffness was impressive.

I bought this as my carp set up (8wt) and it works well for that. Only concern would be the reel life but it does have a functioning drag system, reel does not like to get dirty. Overall can't beat it for the price.

This is my first fly rod and it performed great first time out caught fish. No stags or problems on its first weekend fishing. Very comfortable to cast from shore or out of a kayak.

Tremendous value for a clearance item. Purchased another as a gift for a beginner. Will use mine as a back-up. Balance is a little forward, but not bad enough to exclude it. Looking forward to lots of use, especially in salt and warm water situations.
