Redington Squall Lightweight Jacket - Waterproof (For Men)

Redington really nailed this one! Lightweight, soft, low stretch fabric, simple but detailed design and water/windproof. It will be perfect for spring and fall when the wind can kick up at any time (as it often does on the Deschutes) with occaisional rain (or snow) thrown in. Light enough to tuck into your vest, but durable. Looks spiffy enough for around town too. Draw cords for hood and waist finish in the side pockets, so are out of the way - clever!

good styling and lightweight which is what I was looking for, but after trying it on the chest was far too tight to use over a fishing vest. Sent it back. Thought about getting an XL instead of the L I ordered, but then the sleeves would be way too long. I'll stick with my Patagonia shorty jacket

Wear it for fly fishing most of the time, fits all my needs.

I have a "full on" wading jacket, but was looking for something to carry in the vest back pocket to block the frequent winds and in case of rain. This Redington jacket really fills the bill! The fabric has "give" and a soft hand, but is fully waterproof/breathable. Design is straightforward, but well thought out. Drawcord ends for hood and waist finish in the pockets, so out of the way. Not yet tested in a downpour, but I'm very pleased with the design, fabric and fit. Medium was right on for me at 5'10", 155 lbs. Excellent value through STP, as usual.

I'm very happy with this jacket. It is very light weight - that's what I was looking for. FYI the hood does not pack away but it is not at all bulky. I'm 5'10" and 165lb - the medium is perfect (but would not accomodate a heavy underlayer).
