“OK but not worth retail.”

By colorado fisherVerified Reviewer from Colorado on 08/03/2009
Pros:
Easy To Transport, Good Tip Action
Cons:
Poor Construction
Best Uses:
Fly Fishing, Large Fish
Describe Yourself:
Professional
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
“I just fished this rod in Alaska for a few days and am not that happy with it. The rod is probably worth the STP price but not the retail price of [$] I fished a G Loomis GL3 that retails for 350 next to the Redington and the Loomis out fished it in every way. Again for 200 to 250 dollars it may be OK but it is not worth the retail value. I also had the butt section come loose from the rest of the rod twice as others have commented on. I also noticed that under the right conditions you can feel the cork move on the rod blank which is another sign of a less expensive set up. I will be returning the one I purchased but if you are just looking for a cheap back-up rod or a rod to take fishing that won't break the bank this one may work fine. ”
