Was hoping to wear them with smartwool socks in winter but right now, cant get them on over socks. Elastic over instep and makes them hard to get on - getting off is easy. Wish the heel was a bit higher - I feel a bit flat in them.

I read that this shoe ran narrow. Since I have wear an AA, I decided to chance it. The shoe fit perfit. What I'm not happy with is the horrible dye job - blotching & uneven. I applied a darker stain to try to even the color out. It helped somewhat.

Good looking, comfortable, flat shoe. Normally I wear size 9 but ordered a US-10/EU-41 [...] The size 10 fits perfectly! I think the 9 would have run a bit too small lengthwise. Width feels true. The olive color is gorgeous and the workmanship is top notch. The sole is thick and looks like it will provide excellent traction in any weather. I did apply waterproofing spray so the leather upper will not get damaged by inclement weather. Have only worn this pair indoors so far and LOVE them.

European sizes do not convert to whole or half US sizes so it's a range. These do run true to size and a 40 should work for you.

I do not think these shoes will be too big on you. They are very narrow and not very long.

I am 8 1/2 and got the 39. They are a bit short, cannot wear anything more than a stocking with them. I love the look, got the black, so will limit my walking time in them and avoid thicker socks.
