I have a pair of these and when I saw they were on sale, purchase the second pair to put away for the future. They are comfortable, stable for hiking.

Great out of box comfort and fit. Very well made, bridegroom in toe box. Wore them on a couple of 10+ mile hikes in rough terrain with no blistering or rubs, handled wet conditions very well. They are a bit too stiff for me because I have a high arch that translates to a rigid foot so I need more flexibility in a boot. They do seem to be getting a bit more flexible, but I would like them to be more so. These are a good back-up boot but Asolo remains my favorite.

Got a chance to put these through the ringer last Sunday on a five mile hike through lots of streams, some snow and very rutty/uneven trails. They were a dream. Fit to form, very comfortable even breaking them in, firm with not very much bend (which I personally like) if you prefer more flexibility in your boots these probably wouldn't be your first choice but only for that reason. It is a preference of mine as I like to hike the distance. Marched through flowing streams dry as a bone, up and down steep rocky hills, sailed over fallen trees and returned home after a moderately difficult hike with no blisters or pain in my feet, which was very impressive for me as usually the breaking in period involves a few battle scars for me.

First, I wear a 7.5 shoe but I go with an 8 in hiking boots (if you have not read STPs fit guides, DO IT! It is the best guide I have EVER read; I'm a 58 yr old English Instructor who pays attn to detail). I also have the problem of aging feet which tend to widen at the top portion of the foot. Plus, like most women, my foot narrows at the backend towards the heal. All of which makes finding a good fit difficult.
My specific foot/ankle structure also does not tend to do well with hiking boot styles cut above the ankle..until I purchased Vasque boots (model 7391) from STP a couple years ago. (Circumstances interrupted my hiking for a while.) I started using my current boots about a year ago. They have no toe guard but have held up beautifully except that the leather is badly pitted.

I purchased the Taku because they have the toe guard. I have been wearing them around the house and they are a GREAT fit. I'm keeping them and will try them on my next short (2 hr) hike before packing them away to use once the current Vasques fall apart structurally, meaning the arch and sides support. I tried to order another pair but STP was out in my size. Darn.

I haven't bought hiking boots since college but it was time. I have a 8.5 size foot that is medium width and these fit perfect (I purchased sz 8.5). They allowed a little bit of extra room for a thicker hiking sock. The toe box is also roomy so that your toes don't get cramped in the front when your feet swell after a long hike. Also I don't have any heel slip which is great for hiking so that your foot doesn't slip forward while hiking and bruise your toes. Perfect fit for me, I lucked out by not trying them on in the store and just purchasing them. I previously had a pair of Asolo hiking boots and it seems they fit very similar. If your expecting a soft flexible boot this is not it. This boot is a normal sturdy somewhat stiff hiking boot to handle real hiking. If your planing to do light hikes or walking trails I would buy a trail running shoe instead.

I wore them hiking for four hours the first time and they were warm and comfortable, up and down the mountain.

The price was right but just did not like the fit. Didn't give the ankle support I was looking for. Seem to run true to size. Ended up getting a Lowa boot.

I got these for a trip to Colorado, my boyfriend recommended this brand because he loves them and so the whole family all got Vasque boots. I was hesitant to buy hiking boots because they are not the most attractive shoe but I am glad I got them and compared to the rest of the family they looked a lot better than the ones they bought. they were also comfortable and kept my feet warm and dry.

I normally wear a 7 1/2 and sometimes an 8. Always a 38 in European sizes. The 8 fit me great - wide enough in the front and enough room overall for a heavy sock. They feel a tad stiff but that's what I was looking for, as I need the support and they will soften up with wear.

Great light weight boot for heavy walking. Good footbed for high arch, and the boot kind of throws or rolls you forward when walking, which helps your momentum. I'm not sure about the vibram soles, can be a bit slippery on wet rock, but overall a great fit, true to size.
