    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    this is one of the cheapest made reels I have ever owned plastic clicker and cheap drag parts this reel has all the look and feel of a finely produced $5 [*] reel, spool is more out of round than most of my $10 fly reels,I own several Pflueger and Okuma fly reels that are much better built than this ross, you really need to try before you buy one of these things I purchased mine from a catalog no dealers near by, if I would have felt one in my hand I would not have bought this pile of trash, Ross makes some reel junk and this unit is living proof!!!! It is a legend that will last a lunch time...

    I purchased several Ross Flywater reels last year from this site. I bought three of each in Model 2, 3 and 4. I have used these reels all year, in fresh and salt water fishing, and would rate them as a very good value at their regular retail price, and an excellent value if you purchase them at a discount. Two weeks ago I ordered three of the Ross Flywater Model 1 reels and when they arrived I was surprised to see that they are the new "large arbor" version. They seem to be as well constructed as the reels I purchased last year. I would have prefered the original arbor style, especially in the smallest model, and that is the only reason this review is set at 4 stars.
