4.0 out of 5 stars. one of the best fly rod deals out thereVerified Buyer Reviewed by OutsideGuy from Central Mass/Port Charlotte Mangroves on Friday, December 11, 2015I have the 4, 6 and 9 weight versions of the Ross Reels RX fly rod. They are all very nicely constructed and each came with a beautiful cork grip. They have a nice med to fast action for which a half heavy weight line like the SA GPX series is recommended. Only gripe and 1 star demerit is for no hook holder. Will probably add this accessory to all 3 rods.I even purchased another 9 weight for my son in law.. The case is well made albeit round and more likely to roll if on a boat. All is all I`ve no major complaints and for the price there is really no competition. It`s a good 1st rod for beginners and intermediates (like me) and likely a great back-up if you need one on that trip of a lifetime.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Great fast 11W for the priceReviewed by Anonymous from Caye Caulker, Belize, Central America on Wednesday, December 2, 2015I live six months in Belize and fly fish everyday (when its not lightening). The 11W I purchased stood up well over the last three months of use however the cork segmented handle has started to separate. This separation is due to constant daily fishing that the majority of people might not fish as much as I do? Rod is a little heavy but the price is well worth the purchase amount. I strongly recommend this rod.
The largest fish landed with this rod was a Jack Cervele in the 20lb range and the rod did its job. Amazing craftsmanship and components excluding the segmented cork handle - I prefer a one piece cork handle. For the price, you can't go wrong. -
4.0 out of 5 stars. Good, fun rodVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Washington on Monday, September 28, 2015I am new to fly fishing and needed a rod for PNW salmon and steelhead. Picked up the 8wt and been real happy with it. Cant go wrong with it for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Nice 8wtReviewed by rhy9 from sjc on Thursday, September 24, 2015I've been learning how to double haul with shooting heads on this rod. I get the impression it does not need to be over lined. The airflo tactical heads I got on STP seem to work in 7 and 8 wts (225 and 260 grains, respectively). I tried heads in the 308 - 330 grain range and felt like these were too much for the rod, but it could be my poor casting skill.
Went surf fishing near Monterey Bay with this rod and had a good time. Seems to be pretty solid, nice looking hardware, not super heavy. Just ordered the 9wt thinking about stripers. Love those 40% coupon codes ! -

5.0 out of 5 stars. what a dealVerified Buyer Reviewed by Southern Outdoors from North Carolina on Monday, August 17, 2015I picked up a 9wt rod for some OBX salt water action that I plan to get into soon and hope to do a couple of day trips to Wilmington, NC before that. I took it out on the local lake for some bass and catfish testing so I could cast it and test it out. Very pretty ROD, casts great using Orvis all rounder 9wt line - I chould literally cast it all out nearly to the backing - pretty good for a noob like me. For the price, with Ross' warranty you really can't go wrong.
